Cam Elements of Knitting

Cam

Cam is the second primary knitting element, the cam is a mechanical device which used to control the movement of the needle to produce the required loop according to design.
The knitting cam is device into three groups such as –

         Knit cam
         Tuck cam
         Miss cam
Knit cam: it causes that needle to move its ultimate height. So the needle can receive new yarn and clear the old loop.

Knit cam= receiving yarn+ clearing old loop
Knit cam
Tuck cam: The tuck cam that causes the needle to move upward only enough to receive the new yarn but not clear the old loop is called tuck cam.

Tuck cam = yarn receiving + not clearing
Tuck cam
Miss Cam: it doesn’t move the needle neither upward to receive new yarn nor downward to clearing the old loop.

Miss cam = not receiving + not clearing.
