Other Terms to Know
Bobbin
The part that holds the bottom thread.
Bobbin Case
Holds the bobbin in the machine and adds tension.
Needle
Carries the thread through the fabric and forms a knot with the bobbin thread.

Power Switch
Turns the sewing machine on and off.
Stitch or Darn Button
The feed dogs either are up and moving the fabric through the machine or they are down and the fabric will not move through the machine.
Foot Pedal
The power of moving the machine by pressing the pedal.
Sewing Machine Trouble Shooting
If the sewing machine does not sew properly, it is usually due to incorrect use.
Before you ask for help, check the following:
*The needle has been inserted correctly with the flat side of the shank to the rear.
If you have skipped stitches:
*The needle is blunt, bent, or incorrectly inserted.
*A different needle is needed.
If your needle breaks:
*The needle clamp screw is not tight enough.
*The thread being used is of poor quality.
*The fabric is being pulled while the needle is still inserted.
If your machine fails to run:
*The plug is not inserted correctly.
*The power is not on.
*The bobbin winder is engaged.
Basic Sewing Techniques
Before beginning to sew, pull threads under and back behind the presser foot.
Presser foot DOWN for sewing.
The machine will feed automatically.
Do NOT sew over pins. Take the out as you sew.
Watch SEAM GUIDE as you sew NOT needle.
When stopping in the middle of sewing, put the needle DOWN into the fabric.
Remove lint FREQUENTLY
Most problems are caused by:
Incorrect threading, thread, needle
Stitch is formed by:
Upper and bobbin threads interlocking
If the machine is not threaded correctly:
Stitch will loop or skip
If stitches are uneven:
Check Thread Tension
If the machine is making unusual noises:
Check the Bobbin, needle, or threading
